The Jerrys played at the International Pop Overthrow Music Festival earlier this year. International Pop Overthrow has been held annually in Los Angeles and major cities throughout the world for more than two decades, and Chicago was the first of ten cities on the festival’s 2024 circuit.
More than 60 bands took the stage at Chicago’s Montrose Saloon from April 19-27, with The Jerrys playing on April 24. We’d been making music during COVID, but we hadn’t played live in four years. As it turned out, all we needed was a few hours of practice and one Montrose Saloon teeming with power pop fans to get back in the groove.
The 25th International Pop Overthrow Los Angeles ends tonight, and a 3-CD Volume 25 IPO compilation is free with paid admission each night of the event. The Jerrys’ song, “Think for Myself,” is included on disc 2 of the set, which will be released by Omnivore Recordings in early September.
